Saginaw Housing Commission to Receive $75,689 Federal Grant
Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-05), Chief Deputy Whip of the House Democratic Caucus, today announced federal grants to help Michigan families currently living in public housing or voucher-assisted housing further their education, gain marketable job skills, and increase their income through their current jobs.
The federal grants, awarded by the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) through its Family Self-Sufficiency Program, include a $75,689 federal grant for the Saginaw Housing Commission. This grant will help the Saginaw Housing Commission collaborate with social service agencies and other community partners to help those currently living in public housing increase their self-sufficiency. Other federal grants were awarded throughout Michigan, including in Detroit, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Plymouth, Westland, Traverse City, Pontiac, Grant Rapids, Ann Arbor and Wyoming.
'I am proud to announce these federal grants to help Michigan families gain job skills, further their education and increase their wages,' Congressman Kildee said. 'Every family, regardless of their zip code, should be provided the same opportunity to succeed. I thank the Saginaw Housing Commission for the important work they do in our community and look forward to continuing to work with them to bring federal resources back to mid-Michigan.'
