GLEN ROSE - Tarleton Women's Golf improved its score by 19 strokes - the largest change of the day - to finish in seventh place in the Texan Invitational at Squaw Valley Golf Course.
The Texans shot -3 on the day for a score of 285 at the Par 72, 6,068-yard course. After a first-round score of 304, the Texans totaled a 589 (+13). No. 2-ranked DBU won the tournament with a 571 (-5).
led the Texans with a top-20 finish, carding an overall score of 146 (+2) to tie for 14th. Leatherman had rounds of 75 and 71 while leading the field with 28 pars in the two rounds. The senior from Huntsville shot even par on Par 4's and one-over on Par 3's for the tournament.
had her first top-20 finish of her career as the freshman shot a 147 (+3) to tie for 19th. Rodriguez had rounds of 74 and 73 and was second on the team with 25 pars in the tournament.
had the biggest jump on the individual leaderboard, moving up 29 spots to also tie for 19th place with a score of 147 (+3). Khaw shot a career-best 69 (-3) in the final round after carding a 78 on day one. Khaw had four birdies on the day and also recorded 23 total pars in the tournament. The junior led the Texans on Par 4 scoring, shooting -1.
also had a career round, shooting even par on the day for a new personal best. Caldon had rounds of 77 and 72 for a score of 149 (+5) to tie for 30th. Caldon carded 23 pars in the tournament and was bogey free on the back nine in the final round. totaled a 163 (+19) but led the Texans in Par 3 scoring by shooting even par for the tournament.
Tarleton will compete in the RJGA Women's Shootout in Goodyear, Arizona on Sept. 23-24.
