Ground Breaks on New Camden County Health Department

The Camden County Board of Commissioners is pleased to announce a significant milestone in the ongoing dedication of enhancing health and wellness within the community. On April 15, 2024, many gathered to celebrate the ground breaking ceremony for the new Camden County Department of Health facility.

The ground breaking event, attended by key stakeholders including representatives from the Coastal Health District, Camden Board of Health, Southeast Georgia Health System, the State, and the cities of Kingsland, St. Marys, and Woodbine, representatives, marks the beginning of an important chapter in Camden County's efforts to enhance public health services and accessibility for local residents.

The new Camden County Department of Health facility will serve as a cornerstone in the community, providing essential healthcare services, preventative care, and health education programs to residents of all ages.

"We are excited to break ground on the new Camden County Health Department facility," said Chairman Ben Casey, District 5 Commissioner. "This project represents a significant investment to the overall health of our community, and we are grateful for the collaboration and support of our partners in making this vision a reality."

The new Camden County Health Department facility is expected to open in 2025.

"This new health department is a true community project as demonstrated by the many funding partners," said County Administrator Shawn M. Boatright. "We are pleased that construction is beginning and look forward to opening the new facility."

The project cost for the new Camden County Health Department is over $5.38 million. In addition to land donated by Southeast Georgia Health System, funding is provided by:

  • Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) VIII;
