Stoel Rives’ Environmental Partner Tim Taylor Named Fellow of American College of Environmental Lawyers

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-Stoel Rives is pleased to announce that environmental partner Tim Taylor was elected to the American College of Environmental Lawyers (ACOEL), a professional association of distinguished lawyers who practice in the field of environmental law. Taylor is one of 25 fellows joining ACOEL this year and one of only three joining from District 9, which includes California and Hawaii.

Membership is by invitation and members are recognized by their peers as preeminent in their field. ACOEL members are dedicated to maintaining and improving the ethical practice of environmental law; the administration of justice; and the development of environmental law at both the state and federal level.

"It is an incredible honor to be elected to the American College of Environmental Lawyers. I join a group of highly distinguished attorneys, some of whom I am also fortunate to call my Stoel Rives colleagues," Taylor said. "I look forward to joining this network as we continue to advance our practices and the law impacting our environment at what is clearly a pivotal time."

A well-known environmental and land use lawyer with more than 30 years of experience, Taylor helps residential, commercial, and industrial developers achieve compliance with California's numerous land use and environmental laws, with a particular focus on the California Environmental Quality Act and related litigation. Taylor represents clients impacted by various federal environmental laws, including the National Environmental Policy Act, and represents numerous public agency clients on state planning, zoning, development, and environmental law matters.

"We are so pleased that Tim is joining his peers in this network of preeminent environmental attorneys and are proud of all of the Stoel Rives lawyers who are active participants in the American College of Environmental Lawyers," said Melissa Jones, Stoel Rives Firmwide Managing Partner.

Taylor served as the office managing partner for Stoel Rives' California offices from 2009 to 2014 and was a member of the firm's Executive Committee for much of that time. He was selected by Best Lawyers® as the Sacramento Land Use and Zoning Law "Lawyer of the Year" in 2013 and the Sacramento Environmental Law "Lawyer of the Year" in 2012 and 2015.
