Early Morning Crash On I-95 Causes Guardrail Damage And Lane Closure

NORTH HAMPTON, N.H. - At approximately 12:15 a.m. today, May 4, 2024, Troopers from the Troop A barracks responded to a crash on Interstate 95 southbound in the town of North Hampton, just north of the Hampton Toll Plaza.

Once on scene, Troopers located extensive guardrail damage in the median of the interstate and a disabled Ford Super Duty pickup truck that was towing a car trailer. The crash left a portion of the guardrail obstructing part of the high-speed lane of I-95 southbound, as well as guardrail and vehicle debris across lanes on the northbound and southbound sides of the interstate.

The driver of the pickup was identified as Sheila Carpio, 37, of Brandon, Florida. Troopers learned at the scene that Carpio's license was suspended. A passenger in the vehicle, identified as the owner of the truck, was identified as Jacob Rivera, 29, of Tampa, Florida. No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved. Carpio was summonsed for operating after suspension and negligent driving.

The high-speed lane of I-95 southbound was shut down for approximately three hours while crews worked to remove the pickup and guardrail from the roadway. Troop A was assisted on the scene by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation and National Wrecker Service.
