World War II double feature screening at the Pembina State Museum

May 2, 2024

Pembina, N.D.- The public is invited to attend the free "Monthly Movie Matinee" at the Pembina State Museum on Sunday, May 5. This month we're showing a historical World War II double feature. Both movies will be shown at 1:30 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. Pop and popcorn will be available for sale in the Museum Store.

"The House I Live In" is a short film starring Frank Sinatra as himself as he confronts a group of bullies between recording sessions. The bullies are chasing and threatening another boy for his Jewish heritage. Sinatra scolds the boys and explains why their behavior is wrong. This film was produced in 1946 to combat antisemitism still prevalent in the United States following World War II.

"The Memphis Belle: A Story of a Flying Fortress" follows the bomber and its crew on their 25th mission over Germany. This documentary was filmed during the actual mission and presents not only the story of the Memphis Belle but also that of the bombing campaign over Germany in 1944.

The Pembina State Museum, located at 805 Highway 59, Pembina, is managed by the State Historical Society of North Dakota. Admission to the museum is free. There is a $2 charge to visit the observation deck. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays.
