Washington, D.C. - Ahead of the expected release of a joint World Health Organization (WHO) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) report on the origins of COVID-19, House Foreign Affairs Committee Lead Republican Michael McCaul has released the following statement expressing his concerns about the heavy-handed nature of the CCP on the report. Secretary Blinken also expressed concerns on the veracity of the report on CNN's 'State of the Union' on Sunday.

'We are still waiting for the report to be released, but if the reporting on it is true it is incredibly troubling. The WHO should never have allowed the Chinese Communist Party to have such a heavy hand in drafting this report. A report censored by the CCP is worse than no report at all because it allows the CCP to continue to spread misinformation about the virus and cover up the role they played in allowing it to spread. If we want to prevent the next pandemic, we need an accurate, objective, and trustworthy assessment of the origins of the virus. I am glad to hear Secretary Blinken also express his concern this WHO report will fall short of those commonsense standards.'

Rep. McCaul released his own report in the origins of COVID last year.
