Financial Aid Office Assisting Students with FAFSA Nights on May 6 and 16

May 2, 2024

Western Nevada College is here to alleviate the stress and concerns students have about enrolling for the Fall 2024 semester. As a community college, WNC takes its mission of providing access to higher education seriously by making it affordable. Western's Financial Aid Office has professionals that will help students figure out their options and funding for the coming school year.

Changes and delays by the Department of Education with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid are impacting when college students will learn how much financial aid that they will receive for 2024-25.

Consequently, these uncertainties are making it difficult for students and their families to decide which college is the best fit for them, or worse, if they can even afford higher education at this point.

To assist students with their FAFSA issues, WNC's Financial Aid Office is planning FAFSA Nights from 4 to 6 p.m. on May 6 and 16 in Dini 201.

"We invite any student who is worried about being able to go to college in 2024-25 to come to WNC. We will make it possible for them," said WNC President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe. "While they are waiting to have their financial aid processed and revealed, we have services and programs that will lower costs and remove doubts and worries in order to attend college."

In addition to having low tuition costs, WNC Foundation provides scholarship opportunities to prospective and current students to lower their education costs. With the uncertainty students are experiencing regarding their financial aid amounts, WNC's scholarships and lower tuition costs could eliminate those concerns.

Fortuitously, the deadline to fill out a scholarship application has been extended to June 1. Apply at wnc.edu/scholarships.

WNC doesn't impose an early deadline for students to enroll or pay for tuition, which is impacting the decision-making of many students. Additionally, WNC accepts all students who want to attend college.

Students can still apply for FAFSA. Go to wnc.edu/financial to access the form.
