Where:Near intersection of 252^nd Street and 428^th Avenue

Four miles northeast of Farmer, S.D.

When: 4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022

Driver: Female, 50, Fatal Injuries

Passenger:Female, 24, Serious Non-Life Threatening Injuries

Vehicle: 2004 Dodge 1500 Pickup

FARMER, S.D. - One person died and another person was injured in a one-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon northeast of Farmer.

Names of the two people involved are not yet being released pending notification of family members.

Preliminary crash information indicates that a 2004 Dodge pickup was westbound on 252^nd Street near the intersection with 428^th Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle on loose gravel. The vehicle went into the north ditch and rolled.

The 50-year-old female driver was thrown from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The 24-year-old female passenger was partially ejected from the vehicle, suffered serious non-life threatening injuries, and was transported by ambulance to a Sioux Falls hospital. Neither person was wearing a seatbelt.

South Dakota's Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.

The Highway Patrol is an agency of the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
