Know Your Navy: INS Mumbai Celeberates 21st Anniversary

The Indian Navy warship 'Mumbai', christened after the economic nerve-centre of India, aptly represents the indomitable spirit of the city. The ship's motto in Sanskrit, "Aham Prayptam Tvidametesam Balam", which translates to "I am Invincible", is a true reflection of this magnificent city's soul. In service to the nation spanning 21 glorious years, INS Mumbai is commanded by Captain Kartik Srimal. Since her commissioning on 22 January 2001 , the ship has been at the forefront of challenging naval operations including Op Parakram (2002), Op Sukoon (2006 in which she evacuated Indian, Nepalese and Sri Lankan citizens from Lebanon) and Op Rahat (2015 in which she evacuated Indian and foreign nationals from Yemen).
