YORK, Neb.-- The third-ranked University of Jamestown women's wrestling team won three of four duals Friday and took second at the York College Duals.
The Jimmies defeated 19th-ranked University of Saint Mary 32-10 and a second team from University of the Cumberlands 27-19 to win their pool and advance to the championship duals.
There, UJ was victorious over No. 7 University of the Cumberlands 21-18 and lost 30-16 to NCAA Division II Colorado Mesa.
Alyssa Schrull (SR/East Helena, Mont.), ranked fourth nationally at 170 pounds, won all three of her contested matches, with two tech falls and an 8-5 decision over Colorado Mesa's Mayte Villada.
Agatha Andrews (SO/Akiak, Alaska), fourth nationally at 191, pinned both of her opponents, including No. 13 Angela Buenrrosto of the University of the Cumberlands.
Myranda Velazquez (SR/Los Banos, CA), ranked third at 155, won both matches by tech fall.
Sierra Talmadge (SO/Bismarck, N.D.) had a pin and a 9-0 decision for her wins at 155.
No. 7 Desiree Estrada (SO/Hesperia, Calif.) had two tech falls and a pin at 136 to finish 3-1.
No. 5 Jamayia Blackston (SO/Lakewood, Wash.) was 2-1 at 116, with two tech fall victories.
Samantha Weeks (FR/Tacoma, Wash.), ranked 18th at 109, went 2-2 with a 7-0 decision and a 10-0 tech fall.
Jamestown will compete at the York College Open beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday
