Operating results of Makedonski Telekom for the first six months of 2018

  • Net profit increased by 33.5% and amounted to MKD 816 million
  • Number of broadband internet accesses at the end of the first six months of 2018 remained stable and amounted to 188.9 thousand
  • 8.3% growth in the IPTV segment and 121.7 thousand customers (internal estimate)

The net profit of Makedonski Telekom for the first six months of 2018 increased by 33.5% compared to the same period of the previous year, and amounted to MKD 816 million. The sales revenues amounted to MKD 5,017 million, which is an increase of 1.0% compared to the same period of the previous year.

Makedonski Telekom AD - Skopje managed to maintain the leading position on the fixed voice services market with 57.4% (internal estimate), i.e. 209.6 thousand customers at the end of the first six months of 2018.

On the TV market, Makedonski Telekom has a share of 29.1% of the total TV market (internal estimate). As a result of the high quality, the interactivity and the unique TV experience, the IPTV (digital television via Internet protocol), is well accepted on the market. Therefore, the company achieved an increase in the number of IPTV customers (including Magenta 1, Internet & TV and other TV services) by 8.3% compared to the same period of the previous year, which resulted in a customer base of 121.7 thousand at the end of the first six months of 2018.

The total number of broadband internet accesses at the end of the first six months of 2018 remained stable and amounted to 189.9 thousand, whereas the broadband internet market share for the same period amounted to 44.8% (internal estimate).

As a result of the strategic initiative for acceleration of the fixed segment, we managed to reverse the negative trend in this segment. Accordingly, the fixed services revenues (voice, internet and TV) at the end of the first six months of 2018 remained stable compared to the same period of the previous year.

The company has a share of 48.4% on the mobile telephony market (internal estimate). The subscriber base at the end of the first six months of 2018 had 1,172 thousand subscribers which is a decrease of 3% compared to the same period of the previous year.

The mobile voice services revenues at the end of the first six months of 2018 remained stable compared to the same period of the previous year.

The revenues from non-voice services in the mobile segment at the end of the first six months of 2018 increased by 12.0% compared to the same period of the previous year, as a result of the increased mobile internet revenues and the higher GPRS traffic, as well as the increased use of data tariff models.

The operating results for the first six months of 2018 presented above, for the purposes of making a comparative analysis with the previous year, are presented without the effect of the International Financial Reporting Standard 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers.
