First Lady Erdoğan sends video message to “Zero Waste Summit 2021”

First Lady Emine Erdoğan sent a video message to the "Zero Waste Summit 2021" held online by Capital and Ekonomist magazines.

Congratulating those who contributed to the summit, First Lady Erdoğan underscored that models of sustainable production and consumption, eco-friendly cities, and of effective waste management could be developed through cooperation.

"GLOBAL WARMING AFFECTS THE ENTIRE ECOSYSTEM"

Calling on investors and businesses to make zero waste approach a part of their organizational culture, Mrs. Erdoğan said: "Sustainable development can only be achieved through waste management."

"Unfortunately, global warming affects not only human lives, but also the entire ecosystem, and it disrupts the natural balance," the First Lady said. "The world is a whole. And it is entrusted to us, the humanity. We must protect it with high environmental ethics. We must develop and implement effective environmental policies to hand it over in full."

"May the business people's leading role and civil society representatives' proactive approach be everlasting! I will stand by any initiative that will expand awareness of zero waste," Mrs. Erdoğan said.
