How technology brought harmony back to a musician’s life

Raphael Pazo wanted to live - but not like this.

He was in his early 40's when crippling back pain left him completely bedridden for 28 months, robbing him from enjoying any quality of life. He was fully dependent on someone else to help him with everything from eating to bathing and using the bathroom.

"It was a dark time," recalls Pazo, 58, who missed three of his children's high school graduation ceremonies while confined to his bed. "It broke my heart because those are things that I missed that I'm not going to experience. I was miserable. It was no life."

Nearly 20 years later, Pazo is back doing the things he loves to do and spending meaningful time with his family without the burden of crippling pain. He credits healthcare technology with crafting this extra chapter in his life - a chapter he once considered impossible.

"A lot of the joy I lost during those 28 months, I got it back," said Pazo.
