As Dan Cox Turns GOP Primary Into Pro-Trump Contest, Silent Schulz is Still MIA

This weekend, Trump loyalist and Delegate Daniel Cox declared his entrance into the Maryland GOP primary for governor, turning the race into a pro-Trump loyalty contest.

The 'Q-Anon conspiracy theorist' has an extremist track record, including busing insurrectionists to Trump's January 6th rally and calling Mike Pence a 'traitor' during the violent Capitol attack.

'His entrance into the race is likely to expose Republican Party fissures that have played out nationally between establishment members of the party and Trump supporters,'wrote the Washington Post.

Even with Cox officially in the race, fellow Republican candidate Kelly Schulz has still been MIA on major issues like condemning Trump's lies about the 2020 election and sham audits around the country. She's also refused to call out Cox for his ties to the January 6th insurrection and consistently ignored questions from reporters.

  • Maryland Matters: 'The Schulz campaign also did not respond to a request for comment.'
  • Baltimore Sun: 'Schulz's campaign could not immediately be reached for comment Sunday night.'
  • Washington Post: 'A campaign spokeswoman for Republican candidate Kelly Schulz … could not be reached for comment.'

'Maryland's MAGA primary is about to get messy. Dan Cox's candidacy will turn the race into an extreme Trump loyalty contest, and Silent Schulz can't stay in hiding any longer,' said DGA Deputy Communications Director Sam Newton. 'Rather than dodging questions from reporters, Schulz should speak out against Cox's involvement in the violent Capitol insurrection. Either way, any comment from Schulz is a lose-lose - either turning off the vast majority of voters in deep-blue Maryland or angering the Pro-Trump base of her Republican party.'
