University of Technology Sydney and NTT Group partner to promote smarter, safer and more secure cities

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and NTT Corporation ("NTT"), a global leader in digital transformation, have agreed to promote smarter, safer and more secure cities in New South Wales (NSW) state.

Leveraging UTS's world-renowned research and facilities and NTT's global digital transformation capabilities, UTS and NTT will focus on the following areas:

  • Development of cutting-edge technologies and products
  • Joint Market Development for new R&D technologies
  • Fostering Start-up Ecosystem between Academics and Industry

UTS is one of the world-leading universities of technology and its academic expertise in Telecommunications (5G/6G), Quantum Computing Software, Robotics, Cybersecurity, Data Science and AI make it a strong co-innovation fit for Japanese tech giant, NTT.

The partnership will drive economic growth for NSW, create local jobs, increase the local talent pool, and support NSW's growing technology export economy.

NTT has a strong reputation for smart innovation, collaborating with leading universities, cities and states worldwide. NTT's focused goal is to make communities and cities more inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. Under the strategic partnership with UTS, NTT will accelerate co-innovation to promote smarter, safer and more secure cities using cutting-edge technologies in Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, IoT, AI, Virtual technologies, and digital transformation (DX) solutions.

As a first step, UTS and NTT will jointly conduct a proof of concept of cryptography Information-Sharing platform utilizing NTT's ABE (Attribute Based Encryption) technology and adopt it for internal applications in UTS in collaboration with Rapido, UTS's Technology development unit. UTS and NTT will accelerate to establish and enhance cybersecurity collaboration in Sydney and grow a joint market for new R&D technology.

UTS and NTT will extend the collaboration to establish 5G DX Square for Co-Innovation of 5G business and use cases, Co-Creation of use cases combining URV based Sports Analytics, Digital Twin, Cybersecurity, and Quantum Computing enabling education and training of future digital professionals in NSW.

This partnership will be a milestone for furthering technological development in cyber security and the 5G network to contribute to NSW's IoT development."
