Sergio Ramírez, Cervantes prize-winner in 2017, has always shown his commitment to the defence of democracy in his country, firstly in his role in the fight against the regime of the Somoza and in his support since then for liberty and democracy, becoming a moral and intellectual benchmark for the freedom of thought and expression, principles that are expressed in his literary works.
