Strengthening Local Communities Through Civic Engagement

Local communities are stronger when all voices are heard, and registering to vote is an essential part of participating in the American democratic process. During the pandemic, voter registration plummeted in several states. On National Voter Registration Day, we have an opportunity to reverse that trend and help connect people to the polls.

DoorDash is encouraging every eligible person to check their voter registration status and to remind their friends, family, neighbors, and colleagues to do so as well. In addition to checking their registration status, people can use the link above to register, correct any errors, and get the information they need to vote in the next election.

To encourage the newest generation of voters to register to vote, we are excited to partner with When We All Vote. For the 2021-22 school year, we are providing a $25,000 cash donation and $25,000 in DoorDash Community Credits to support their My School Votes program to bolster student leadership, education about local issues, and voter education campaigns which promote civic engagement among future voters.

"We build a better community and country when we all participate, and getting young people actively involved in civic engagement early is key to a healthy democracy and stronger community for all." said Stephanie L. Young, Executive Director of When We All Vote. "DoorDash's contribution will create opportunities for more young people to get involved and make their voice heard on issues that matter most to them."

In past years, DoorDash has partnered with NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace, leveraged our platform to provide voting resources to millions of customers, merchants, and Dashers during crucial elections, and promoted more equal representation through participation in the U.S. Census. We believe voting access should be protected and we have opposed measures that make it harder for voters to vote. Registering to vote is the first crucial step toward accurate representation and equal access to the ballot for local communities. With elections coming up this November and again in 2022, the time to register to vote is now.
