Fourth 'Beijing - A Global City' Short Video Contest Kicks off

The 4th "Beijing - A Global City" Short Video Contest was officially launched at Tanko Moofland Park in Mentougou District on April 23. This year's contest is hosted by the Foreign Affairs Committee of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee (Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Beijing Municipality) and organized by CRI Online of China Media Group, under the auspices of the Bureau of Public Information and Communication of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Information Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China.

Since its inception in 2021, the contest has been held every year and is dedicated to recording Beijing's various achievements in its internationalized development from small perspectives, receiving nearly 700 outstanding entries from participants hailing from over 100 different countries and regions.

Like its previous sessions, the contest this year will collect short videos of less than five minutes through online channels and from targeted groups. Both individuals and organizations are eligible to partake. Each participant is required to upload his/her videos on one of the designated new media platforms, including Kuaishou, WeChat, and Douyin, with the hashtag #Beijing· A Global City 2024# attached to the video. In addition, the original file, the name and a short introductory text of the video, as well as the name of the participant shall be sent to the official email account of the contest ([email protected]). The collection period will continue until November 15, 2024. A jury of experts will select first, second, and third-place winners, and the winners of the Outstanding Individual Awards and other awards. The award certificates and production allowances will then be given to the winners. The winning works will also be promoted through various new media platforms and channels in China and other countries and regions.

It is learned that the contest has invited foreign influencers to Beijing to film creative, high-quality short videos to enhance its influence and reach. Innovative publicity activities powered by AI will also be organized for this year's contest, combining the international characteristics of Beijing with AI technologies to release interactive products during the key periods of the contest for enhancing public participation and interaction.

The host will also launch a variety of themed filming activities throughout the contest. Foreign journalists, foreign Internet influencers in Beijing, foreign experts, and students from China and abroad are invited to witness Beijing's progress in building itself into a center for international exchanges.
