Shelli Siemer, Assistant City Manager for the City of Allen, was presented with the Linda Keithley Award for Women in Public Service during a North Central Texas Council of Governments luncheon on June 16.
Siemer was nominated by city leaders for exceeding the demands of her position during a time of rapid growth and change. She led community engagement efforts ahead of Allen's $93 million bond election and oversaw the transition to a new citywide administrative software system. She also guided the city's highly-successful Employee P.R.I.D.E. Program to help instill core Allen's core values among city staff.
Siemer is a member of Urban Management Assistants of North Texas (UMANT), where she previously served as president and continues to mentor young professionals. She is also an active member of Texas City Management Association (TCMA) and currently serves on the Advocacy Committee. As a member of International City Management Association (ICMA), she has served as a presenter at the national conference as a subject matter expert.
Not only is Siemer a leader in her profession, she is an active citizen in the Allen community. She has served on the board of directors and advisory council for Allen Community Outreach and is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Allen. For the past decade, she has participated in the Allen ISD Eagle Scholars Program, sharing her life experiences with eighth grade students as they plan and study for their futures.
