PRESS RELEASE: Vela Announces $5 Million NSF Grant for Texas A&M University-Kingsville
BROWNSVILLE, TX - Today, Congressman Filemon Vela (D-TX) announced that Texas A&M University-Kingsville will receive $5,000,000 in funds from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for their project entitled Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology - Sustainable Water Use (CREST-SWU).
These federal funds will be used to establish the Center for Sustainable Water Use. The center will implement regional multidisciplinary research, education and stakeholder collaborations to advance the understanding of sustainable water use in South Texas.
'This investment from the NSF will allow Texas A&M University-Kingsville to further the critical research of water sustainability for South Texas,' said Rep. Vela. 'Water is a precious resource in South Texas and I look forward to seeing the impact of these federal resources.'
