Public Involvement Opportunity

Improvements to County Highway G at the Yellow River

The Chippewa County Highway Department is planning improvements for County G over the Yellow River in the Town of Colburn. Project information can be found in this notice or by contacting the individuals below.

The Yellow River bridge project involves improvements to the roadway and bridge approximately 0.8 miles north of the County S and County G intersection. The proposed improvement will include the removal of the existing single-span steel overhead truss bridge and construction of a new three-span concrete haunched slab bridge. The approximately 600-foot-long project will include replacement of the bridge at the existing location and approximately 434.5 feet of roadway approaches with placement of new guardrail.

During construction of the County G project, the road will be closed to traffic. A detour route will not be signed. Construction is anticipated to take approximately 4 to 5 months during 2024. The earliest construction could begin is June 2nd due to in-stream work restrictions. The exact timeframe will be determined by the contractor based on their availability.

Additional right-of-way is anticipated to be needed to build the project for grading behind the guardrail and placement of riprap at the structure.
