Mental Health Awareness Week: tackling loneliness together

Mental Health Awareness Week is an annual event created to encourage each of us to focus on how we can achieve good mental health. This year's theme is loneliness - a feeling that's affected more and more of us since the pandemic, and for some, has had a huge impact on our physical and mental health. Our connection to other people and the community is fundamental to protecting our mental health and combatting the feeling of loneliness. To mark Mental Health Awareness Week, we've invited our colleagues to take time out to connect with others by scheduling in a coffee and catch-up, virtually or in person.

At William Hill, one of our key resources to help you improve our employee's wellbeing is Unmind - a scientifically-backed set of tools to help individuals move towards optimum mental wellbeing. Unmind takes a proactive, preventative approach to mental health and provides a variety of expert tools that are rooted in neuroscience, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness and positive psychology. Unmind has the tools and techniques to support everyone.

For Mental Health Awareness Week, Unmind are running a webinar on Wednesday 11th May to discuss how we can 'Stop the Scroll' and find togetherness and connection outside of our phones, screens, and social media. The webinar will hear from global experts in understanding social connection, the pitfalls of our modern society and understand what we can do to foster more togetherness.

Unmind have also launched their new podcast Flourish, which explores the mental, emotional, and physical forces in life that can either derail or empower us. Each episode is a human story told by inspiring voices such as Tom Daley, Matt Willis, and Frank Bruno. Learning from their experiences, we can become stronger guides and more reliable narrators within our own lives. Colleagues can listen to this podcast by logging into Unmind.

Let's tackle loneliness together.
