Missouri Farm Bureau (MOFB) has announced that Jennifer Poindexter has been hired to be its new Director of Promotion and Education.

Poindexter will lead MOFB's efforts to increase agricultural education both inside of the classroom and out. MOFB partners with school districts and teachers to educate youth about agricultural issues through curriculum, in-classroom experiences and on-farm visits. The organization also works with a number of outside entities to spread knowledge of agriculture, including the St. Louis Science Center, The Magic House, the American Royal and the Western Farm Show.

Poindexter is originally from Willard. She and her husband, Casey, now live on a farm in Montgomery County and serve on MOFB's State Young Farmer and Rancher Committee. She holds a B.S. degree in Agricultural Education from Missouri State University and an M.S. degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Missouri State University. She taught agriculture, woodworking and engineering to middle and high school students in the Southern Boone County School District and is now an agriculture educator and FFA Advisor in the Union R-XI School District.

MOFB President Blake Hurst said of Poindexter, 'Jennifer is an outstanding addition to our organization. Over 98 percent of Americans no longer work in farming, so working with youth and bringing the message of agriculture to people who do not live on the farm is increasingly important. Jennifer brings knowledge and passion to this position. We look forward to working with her for many years to come.'

Poindexter will begin her new duties on December 23. She succeeds Diane Olson, who is retiring December 31 after 34 years of service to Missouri Farm Bureau.

Missouri Farm Bureau is the state's largest general farm organization.
