Chambers Commends Dechert’s Diversity and Inclusion Progress in Ireland

Dechert's efforts to move the needle on diversity, equity and inclusion in Ireland have been "highly commended" by Chambers in its Diversity & Inclusion Awards: Europe 2022.

Led by managing partner Carol Widger, Dechert's Dublin office has succeeded in establishing a progressive, inclusive work model. The firm has attracted new talent through a hiring drive founded on diversity principles, launched a training and networking scheme to support career development and implemented a mentoring program for junior lawyers.

The firm has also reaped rewards through its focus on innovation and digital transformation. Dechert lawyers in Dublin now use AI platforms that have revolutionized the document review process. Dublin-based lawyers and business service professionals have also participated in Dechert's bespoke Innovation Certificate Program, which was developed to enhance creative problem-solving and client-centric service delivery.

Under Ms. Widger's leadership, Dechert has increased its market share in the Irish funds industry by one third, according to Monterey Insight, a funds industry consultancy. According to its latest Ireland Fund Report, Dechert took on more new funds than any law firm in the Irish market in 2021.

Ms. Widger, who was named co-chair of Dechert's Global Women's Initiative in 2021, was honored as a "Woman Worth Watching" by Profiles in Diversity Journal in 2020. She was also "Highly Commended" in the "Diversity Lawyer of the Year" category in Chambers' European D&I awards in 2019, winning praise for her career-long efforts to foster gender diversity.
