Woodside - Shearwater active transportation planning – survey and public engagement sessions

The Halifax Regional Municipality is inviting residents to participate in a survey and/or upcoming public engagement sessions to help inform improvements for walking, rolling, and bicycling between Woodside and Shearwater.

The project aims to close the three kilometre gap between the Dartmouth Harbourfront Trail (at the Woodside Ferry Terminal) and the Shearwater Flyer Trail (at Corsair Drive). This would enable a regional active transportation connection between Dartmouth and Eastern Shore communities along the rails-to-trails corridor and would link two segments of the Trans Canada Trail. The project also proposes new active transportation facilities in Woodside and Shearwater.

The project team is seeking feedback from residents on several route options and concepts. Information on the options and a survey for residents will be open from June 16 to 30. Residents are invited to attend two in-person public engagement sessions:

  • Thursday, June 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the North Woodside Community Centre (230 Pleasant, Dartmouth, NS B2Y 3R8)
  • Monday, June 20 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the South Woodside Community Centre (5 Everette St, Dartmouth, NS B2W 1G2)
