The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives, Abdulla Shahid sent a message of condolences to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the passing of the President of the United Arab Emirates.

Minister's message reads as follows:

"Your Highness,

It is with deep sorrow I heard the news of the passing away of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Late President of the United Arab Emirates. His Highness' pioneering vision and innovation transformed the Emirates towards a position of global leadership. His Highness will also be fondly remembered for the charitable endeavours all across the world.

At this time of national grief, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our sincere condolences to Your Highness and the brotherly people of the United Arab Emirates.

I pray to Almighty Allah to accept His Highness' good deeds and grant the highest ranks of Jannah. 'Surely to Allah do we belong and surely to Him is our return.'"
