City accepting applications, interviewing for Galveston Park Board trustees

The City of Galveston is accepting applications for three positions on the Galveston Park Board of Trustees.

The Park Board of Trustees' mission is to promote Galveston Island, its natural resources, attractions, and heritage; to attract visitors to Galveston Island; and to assure that Galveston's assets, for which the Board of Trustees is responsible, provide visitors and residents with exemplary experiences in an environment that is safe, clean, accessible, fun, and environmentally sensitive.

There are three positions on the Park Board expiring at the end of June. Per the City Code, City Council must appoint Park Board trustees by July 1. Two of the trustees holding those positions are eligible for reappointment for another two-year term, however, incumbent trustees will need to re-apply and interview again, along with any new applicants.

Anyone interested in applying should submit their application by June 9, 2022. City Council will interview applicants on June 16, 2022 and make appointments during the June 23 meeting.

At this time, the City Council is only interviewing for the Park Board. Interviews for Planning Commission and Wharves Board will be held at a later date.
