Sign Replacement Project along select on and off ramps along I-84, I-91, and CT-190

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is developing plans to replace sheet aluminum highway signing along the on and off-ramps located on Interstate 91 from the Windsor/Windsor Locks Town Line to the Massachusetts State Line and CT-190 and Interstate 84 from Governor Street in East Hartford to the Manchester/Vernon Town Line.

The existing signs have exceeded their useful service life and are in need of replacement. The scope of the project involves the replacement of only those signs that have exceeded their useful service life, have less than adequate retroreflectivity, have evidence of damage, or are no longer in compliance with Federal and State standards and guidelines. Excluded from this project are extruded aluminum signs and sheet aluminum signs that have been recently replaced or are scheduled to be replaced by other various construction projects.

It is CTDOT policy to keep the public informed and involved when such projects are undertaken. It is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project's development. At this time, it is not anticipated that an informational meeting or formal public hearing will be necessary.

The design plans for the project are expected to be completed in January of 2023 with a tentative advertising date for construction in March of 2023.
