Cooperative Governance briefs media on interventions following devastating floods in KwaZulu-Natal, 29 May

KwaZulu-Natal to receive humanitarian aid from The State of Qatar and brief the media on interventions following devastating floods

Ministers, Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma of COGTA, Dr Naledi Pandor of DIRCO, Ms Lindiwe Zulu of DSD and Premier Sihle Zikalala of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) as well as the Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda of eThekwini will brief the media on interventions and receive the much-needed humanitarian aid from the State of Qatar following the devastating floods. KwaZulu-Natal has been adversely affected by successive episodes of flooding owing to the reality of climate change.

The adverse weather phenomenon has had a negative effect on lives, livelihoods, and essential infrastructure aggravating already existing challenges. Sadly, over 400 lives were lost and extensive damage to infrastructure incurred because of flooding.

The humanitarian aid by the State of Qatar which comprise inter alia of foodstuff, clothing, and medical supplies is a much welcome gesture of solidarity and social partnership towards the government led humanitarian interventions in KZN.
