THE MINISTRY OF MINES AND HYDROCARBONS DISCUSSED LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE COVID-19 DURING THE #AEW2021.

At the African Energy Week 2021 conference in Cape Town, organized by the African Energy Chamber; the Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea, His Excellency Gabriel Mbaga OBIANG LIMA, discussed lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic.

In his speech to investors and attendees, he emphasized on how the pandemic has taught Africa to be self-reliant. To take her destiny in her own hands and strive for growth and sufficiency. As such, Equatorial Guinea is moving to launch several activities in the year 2022 aimed at expanding its Oil and Gas industry, since 2022 will be an important year for gas monetization. The details of these projects will be announced at the 2021 World Petroleum Congress in Houston. The Minister emphasized that the year 2022, which he tagged "the Year of Transformation", will be a busy year for the Ministry - with substantial changes coming to the Equatorial Guinea Mining industry.

The Ministry of Mines and Hydrocarbons will focus on the formulation of new hydrocarbon laws that will address a broad range of significant areas. Areas affected will include; new fiscal terms and flexibility for investors, local content, and abandonment on mature field, technology transfer, health and safety, and capacity building. The future of African energy is taking new life on the mission to energy and economic development.
