Water Customers Asked to Conserve Water

Recent drought conditions across North Texas have caused the City's water provider, the North Texas Municipal Water District, to ask for increased water conservation efforts among the cities it serves. Needs for increased conservation are projected for the foreseeable future as drought conditions and rising demands for water persist.

Residents and businesses are encouraged to conserve, specifically on outdoor irrigation which is the highest use of water during the dry summer months. To do this, the City joins other communities in recommending reduced landscape watering by two minutes per zone.

Currently, Richardson is in its summer water conservation plan, which allows residents and businesses to water twice per week, on their designated watering day. No watering is allowed from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. since doing so would result in much of the water being lost to evaporation before it could soak into the ground.
