Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III met in Brussels with Estonian Minister of Defense Kalle Laanet, Latvian Minister of Defense Artis Pabriks, and Lithuanian Minister of National Defense Arvydas Anusauskas to discuss Russia's illegal and unprovoked invasion and occupation of Ukraine and preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Madrid. The leaders had a detailed discussion about NATO's deterrence and defense posture on its Eastern Flank. Secretary Austin thanked the Ministers for their commitment to increasing Baltic defense capabilities.
