Fischer Statement on Reckless Tax & Spending Bill Passing Senate

WASHINGTON, DC.- U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.) released the following statement today after voting against Democrats' multibillion-dollar tax and spending bill:

"In March 2021, Democrats unilaterally passed a massive $1.9 trillion spending bill that jumpstarted the inflation nightmare our country is now confronting.

"Now while American families continue to struggle, Democrats force through another reckless bill that will raise taxes, waste taxpayer dollars, and do nothing to address inflation. We have to stop with these backwards policies that put the nation in this economic mess in the first place."

Background

Senator Fischer offered multiple amendments to fix bad policies within the Schumer-Manchin bill, including a provision to prevent the wealthy from utilizing wasteful electric vehicle tax credits. All 50 Senate Democrats voted against the amendment.
