Main remarks by Foreign Ministry’s Secretary General for Greeks abroad and public diplomacy, Ioannis Chrysoulakis, at the “Study in Greece” event (3 April 2021)

Secretary General for Greeks abroad and public diplomacy, Professor Emeritus Ioannis Chrysoulakis, participated in 'Learn Greek - Study in Greece', an on-line event organized by 'Pelagonia Association' (certified Center for learning and attainment in Greek language for the Republic of North Macedonia) and aimed at informing students and researchers from the Republic of North Macedonia about the Greek academic landscape and the prospects of studying in a Greek university.

National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, University of Crete, University of Western Macedonia, University of Macedonia, and University of Ioannina were equally represented in the above event.

Prof. Chrysoulakis congratulated the organizers for their important initiative which would lead the cultural ties between the two countries much further and presented the 'Study in Greece Project' as the official bridge between the Greek and the international academic communities.

According to Mr. Chrysoulakis, the project facilitates the creation of academic networks and fosters synergies between Greek and foreign university departments in diverse disciplines. Placed under the auspices of three Greek Ministries, Foreign Affairs, Education and Religious Affairs and Tourism, the project also aspires to become the point of reference for the Greek Diaspora all over the world.

Mr. Chrysoulakis stated that 'education is one of the most basic human rights, a public good and a public responsibility' and that 'the education offered in the Greek universities has always been and remains of high caliber'.

Greek universities - underlined Mr. Chrysoulakis - 'have developed dynamic research teams across all disciplines. Nowadays, they build their work on topics that cover the most modern fields of scientific interest. They prove in practice the added value of the many curricula they offer. The study packages offered, apart from being of high quality, are also very competitive. Greek universities have long understood the need for and prioritize areas and skills that open up avenues of growth and progress'.
