Don't Miss the Inaugural OBOC Scavenger Hunt on April 18!

Do you like solving puzzles? Easter Egg Hunts? Do you like to read? You can do all three at the One Book, One College's first ever Scavenger Hunt on April 18 at 1 p.m. in the Student Union Plaza! LAVC students, faculty, and/or staff will answer written clues about the book then go find the clues' corresponding physical treasures on campus.

LAVC's One Book, One College program is organizing a campus-wide scavenger hunt on Wednesday, April 18 at 1 p.m.; meet at the Student Union Plaza.

Students can use their knowledge of Julia Alvarez's How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents to solve clues about the book and then go find the clues' corresponding physical treasures on campus!

Simply create a scavenger hunt team of 1-4 LAVC students, faculty, and/or staff members who have read How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents by Julia Alvarez. (If you want to read the book before this event, the LAVC Library has copies that you can borrow).

On Wednesday, April 18 at 1 p.m., your team will gather at the Student Union's Outdoor Plaza to receive an answer sheet and the first written clue. Answer each written clue using information that you read in the Garcia Girls book*. Then go to the corresponding college department or LAVC office to collect the physical treasure for that clue.

There are 10 total written clues that need to be solved with your brain power and 10 total physical clue treasures to be found somewhere on campus.

The first three teams** to submit the 10 correct written clues and the 10 correct physical treasures will receive prizes-gift cards to the LAVC Bookstore-donated by LAVC's Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society! Prizes include: $50 gift card for the 1st place team; $25 gift card for the second place team; and $10 gift card for the 3rd Place team.

Refreshments will be served at the Scavenger Hunt table!

This event is part of the Spring 2018 One Book, One College activities, which includes activities that engage students, faculty and staff around the 2017-2018 OBOC's selection of How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents.
