The Arctic Council Secretariat (ACS) serves and supports the work of the Arctic Council, and in particular the Chairmanship of the Arctic Council. Our main tasks include administrative and organizational support such as arranging and servicing meetings, assisting the Chair in drafting meeting documents and reports, communication and outreach including operating the Arctic Council website, provide information on the Arctic Council and contribute in the development of strategic communication and outreach plans. The ACS also provides services to Permanent Participants, Working Groups, Expert Groups and Task Forces.
The ACS is looking for an intern interested in learning the aspects of working in an international environment. The duration of the internship is 10-12 months full time. The intern will be under the guidance of experienced secretariat staff members. An open mind to cultural differences and a team spirit is essential. The intern will be involved in the following tasks;
The intern may be called upon to carry out or participate in other tasks as needed and according to the overall competencies of the Arctic Council Secretariat.
Applicants for this position must be a citizen of one of the eight Arctic States; Canada, Kingdom of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, United States, Sweden, Russian Federation and Norway.
The intern will be granted a temporary contract of 10-12 months with a probation period of two months. The salary will be according to the Arctic Council Secretariat Staff Rules Schedule B, level 6, step 1 (approximately NOK 26 000 per month). The salary is subject to regular taxation in Norway. The ACS will cover travel to/from Tromsø. The ACS will not cover accommodation costs.
