Rep. Bass Statement on Burkina Faso Coup

"I strongly condemn the events taking place in Burkina Faso involving a military coup being led by Lt. Col. Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba. The current situation includes the military seizing power of the government and parliament and President Roch Marc Christian Kaboré being detained. As events continue to unfold, I am calling for a peaceful end to the military mutiny, immediate release of President Kaboré, and restoration of democracy. The voices of the Burkina people must be heard and respected as it relates to their leaders and governance."
