The Central Bank of Barbados is seeking to fill a post of Analyst Programmer, Management Information Systems Department.

Job Summary

The analysis, design, coding, implementation and maintenance of computerised systems for the Bank's core business and internal business functions

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing, designing, coding and implementing computer applications for all core business and internal business functions of the Bank to ensure that computerisation improves efficiency of processes and productivity of staff. Ensuring applications meet all functionality of user departments and that required interfaces between applications are prepared
  • Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of acquired and automated solutions to enhance the Bank's digital landscape and create reports for applications based on user requirements
  • Learning and utilising new information technology (IT) and tools to improve efficiency at the Bank
  • Utilising the internet and user groups to solve problems encountered in development, reducing the reliance on paid training and consultancy
  • Providing technical support for, and maintaining, enhancing and upgrading all existing systems and applications to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity is preserved and that full capacity is always available
  • Training staff on all new and/or modified systems to ensure ease of use and minimum learning curve
  • Maintaining current documentation for each system and develop user and system operation manuals thereby providing easy reference
  • Researching, evaluating and implementing emerging technologies which contribute to improving the efficiency and productivity of the Bank's processes
  • Conducting database administration to ensure data integrity and availability
  • Ensuring business continuity plans are in place for business-critical applications to allow for seamless transition in the event of disaster - replication of data to hotsite
  • Performing any other related duties as assigned

Education/Experience

  • A Bachelor's Degree in computer-related discipline or Professional IT Certification; and a minimum of three (3) years' experience in systems analysis, design and the development of applications

or

  • A Master of Science in computer related discipline or Professional IT Certification; and a minimum of one (1) year's experience in systems analysis and design and the development of applications

  • Strong leadership ability
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to program using languages such as C, C++, Visual Basic, Visual Studio/.NET environment (C# or VBScript)
  • Experience with scripting languages, e.g. java script/python
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of: Microsoft SQL Server, Software Development Life Cycle, Industry best practices around release management
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint
  • Understanding of SQL database and query best practices. Including triggers, store procedures and reporting
  • Knowledge of Crystal Report Writer would be an asset
