Consumer, Provider, and Advocacy Groups Sign-On to Support HHS Reforms to the Medicare Advantage Program

Joined by 47 organizations representing our nation's families, providers, and individuals with Medicare coverage, Families USA has submitted a letter to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in support of their final CY2025 Medicare Advantage (MA) rate announcement.

The MA program needs more oversight and accountability to reduce overpayments and fulfill the promise of providing high-value, high-quality care. While we applaud the administration for the steps they have taken so far, we are also urging the administration to go even further to address the harmful business practices employed by MA plans such as systematic upcoding that is driving billions of dollars in overpayments and undermining the extent to which CMS and HHS can hold MA plans accountable to providing the care patients deserve. With the support of the undersigned, Families USA and key health advocates and partners stand ready to support HHS as they consider and move forward to implement these proposed improvements.

With the final rate announcement, the administration has demonstrated their work in taking vital steps toward holding MA plans accountable for delivering the high quality, affordable, and equitable care that all people who rely on Medicare need and deserve.
