San Antonio Public Library Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

SAN ANTONIO (September 15, 2021) - In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, San Antonio Public Library (SAPL) is recognizing the rich culture, history, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. From September 15 through October 15 SAPL will host a variety of online events, programs, and activities for all ages to celebrate the month-long observance. Additionally, all SAPL locations will distribute papel picado Take-and-Make kits on a first-come, first-served basis during regular service hours. Hispanic Heritage Month Happenings at SAPL

Take-and-Make Activity Kit: Papel Picado
Tuesday, September 15 - Friday, October 15
All participating Library Branch Locations (while supplies last)

Visit the library to pick up a special Hispanic Heritage Month Papel Picado activity kit. This kit is available for all ages. Papel picado is a traditional Mexican craft that features colorful paper sheets with intricate cut-out details.

Adult Craft: Worry Dolls

Visit the library to learn how to make your own Worry Dolls. Pick up a supply packet to make at the library or to take home. This activity is intended for adults and supplies are limited. Worry dolls, also called trouble dolls, (in Spanish, Muñeca quitapena) are small, hand-made dolls that originate from Guatemala.
