Singtel names Dr Anna Yip Deputy CEO of Singapore consumer business

Singapore, 20 November 2020 - Singtel today announced the appointment of Dr Anna Yip as Deputy CEO of its Singapore consumer business with effect from 17 December 2020. Reporting to CEO, Consumer Singapore and Group CEO-designate Mr Yuen Kuan Moon, Dr Yip will be responsible for the consumer business in Singapore and ensuring it becomes a leading digital services provider as 5G goes mainstream.

Dr Yip was most recently Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Smartone Telecommunications, running its operations in Hong Kong and Macau since 2016. Under her leadership, Smartone was named 'Best Mobile Carrier' by the Communication Association of Hong Kong in 2019. Prior to joining the telecoms industry, she had extensive experience in the credit card business, banking as well as consulting.

Commenting on her appointment, Group CEO-designate Mr Yuen said, 'Anna is an outstanding telecoms professional that will no doubt add notably to Singtel's management bench strength and diversity. Her added experience in financial services and management consulting will also prove highly valuable as we accelerate our journey in the converging space of tech and telco. I look forward to having her on board to further distinguish our consumer business by leveraging her expertise in finance, technology and 5G to drive digital innovation and superior customer service in the mobile and home market.'

She holds a First Class Honours degree in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and MPhil and DPhil degrees in Management from Oxford University.
