Leadership Group Launches VolunteerNapa Initiative

4/18/2024 - Saint Helena, CA - Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) announces the launch of VolunteerNapa, a community-focused initiative aimed at harnessing the collective power of vintner members to give back to the local community. This endeavor was created by the third cohort of the NVV leadership program.

The initiative encourages wineries to dedicate 24 hours of their company's time to support community programs and non-profit organizations within the valley.

The leadership group identified the need for more volunteerism in Napa Valley and recognized the opportunity for winery businesses to contribute to the community in which they operate. By increasing awareness of community programs and local nonprofits that need volunteers, as well as encouraging volunteer efforts, VolunteerNapa aims to strengthen the bonds between vintner members and the local community.

"The Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) is excited to support the initiative… The last four years has seen a decline in volunteerism due to disasters and the COVID pandemic. As many nonprofits have reopened their doors and in person services and programs, the need for volunteers is growing in order to meet the needs of those they serve," said Ines DeLuna, Director, CVNL.

By joining the VolunteerNapa pledge, wineries will give back a minimum of 24 hours of active service. Their time will help push forward the many inspiringinitiatives taking place in Napa Valley. By leveraging their resources and expertise, vintner companies can make a tangible difference in addressing the needs and challenges faced by the community.

VolunteerNapa is one of the many ways in which NVV helps to foster a sustainable and inclusive community in Napa Valley. The initiative underscores the organization's dedication to being responsible stewards of the region's resources and advocates for its residents. In the short time since announcing this initiative to the NVV wine community, 25 wineries have already made their pledge.

"In Napa Valley we know that when we work together, we can achieve more. Early on, this cohort identified the need for more volunteerism in our county and realized that the local wine industry can have an impact in helping to fill this need. It's a great program and they've already received a positive response," said Linda Reiff, President and CEO of Napa Valley Vintners.

The NVV Leadership Programwas created to help establish the next generation of wine industry leaders who will make a difference in the Napa Valley community. The nine-month program is tailor-made for driven professionals with a desire to grow and contribute to the greater wine community. A key part of the program is a group project. Each cohort identifies a need in the industry or community and they develop a plan or a program to help provide solutions. Each participant takes responsibility and shares ownership of the project.
