"I am so very grateful for this opportunity and cannot truly express how honored I feel to be selected as a recipient of the Founders Scholarship," Heitmann said.

Heitmann graduated from University High School in Morgantown, West Virginia, in 2022. She played varsity softball at University High School and played travel softball for West Virginia Thunder. During her senior year, she served as co-captain of the varsity softball team, and was voted a West Virginia State All-Star, All-League selection and First Team All-Conference in the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference.

"I want to thank my coaches for always pushing me to be better and for their diligence in teaching me hard work and integrity. Their influence in my life cannot be expressed in words," Heitmann said.

Heitmann currently serves as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah. She will return to Morgantown in June before attending Waynesburg University to study nursing.

"I also want to thank my parents for their patience and diligence in supporting me as I reached for my goals of becoming a nurse and softball player at the collegiate level. Their love and support have allowed me to experience success and continued growth through difficult times," Heitmann said.
