Bus Drivers Needed for Anchorage School District

Anchorage, AK - Today, in partnership with the Anchorage School District (ASD), Anchorage Mayor Dave Bronson notified the community about the serious need for school bus drivers for the upcoming 2022-23 school year. Facing a shortage of 71 drivers, ASD needs qualified applicants to immediately fill these positions to ensure students across Anchorage are safely and reliably transported to school.

"With the new school year just around the corner, it's vital have we enough bus drivers to get our kids to school," said Mayor Bronson. "When Superintendent Bryantt informed me of this problem, I offered up any resources and help the Municipality could provide. My ask of the community is simple: if you have your CDL but aren't utilizing it or are looking for a great part-time job that plays an important role ensuring the youth of Anchorage receive the education they need, please apply today."

ASD provides a paid-training course, and CDL certification, to those who are hired as school bus drivers. In short order, one can go from having no prior experience to having their CDL and making an income. With competitive pay, starting at $20.68 per hour and flexible hours, these positions are perfect for those looking to get started as a commercial driver. Additionally, ASD is currently offering a $2500 bonus for bus drivers who remain employed through the end of the first semester of the 2022-23 school year.
