Last week, State Secretary Barbara Visser discussed the possibilities of cooperation with Italy at Amendola Air Base in Italy with regard to the unmanned MQ-9 Reaper. The Netherlands recently purchased the aircraft following the additional investment in the Defence organisation.

Mock attack demonstrates unified defence

During Exercise Trident Juncture, a demonstration day was held which made clear how NATO units and their partners are working on how to operate at the international level in a unified and robust way. In the exercise scenario, NATO member state Norway was attacked. First, the French and Norwegians were responsible for delaying the enemy, after which the Dutch, following three days of movements, launched a counterattack together with the Germans and other nations.

King Willem-Alexander joins marines during mountain training

Last week, King Willem-Alexander spent two days in the Scottish Highlands with the marines during their mountain training. The Marine Corps trains annually in mountainous and arctic terrain in order to be at full readiness for operations and exercises anywhere in the world.
