Lake Beresford Park in DeLand will be closed from sunrise to early afternoon on Wednesday, May 1, for training in conjunction with the Florida Department of Transportation and the Central Florida Rail Commission. The park will reopen after the training and close at sunset.

Residents and those traveling near Lake Beresford Park may hear emergency vehicle sirens and see law enforcement and fire rescue activity. As part of the exercise, a SunRail train will be stopped along the railroad tracks near the park. Multiple County divisions, such as emergency management, fire rescue, emergency medical services (EMS), transit services, and the medical examiner's office, will participate in the training.

During the closure, the St. Johns River-to-Sea Loop trail will remain accessible west of the train tracks. The trail can be accessed at the Blue Springs Avenue Trailhead on the west end of Blue Springs Ave., Orange City, and at Blue Springs State Park, 2100 W. French Ave., Orange City. Residents and visitors looking for a nearby park with a playground, pavilions, and restrooms can visit Spring Hill Park at 903 S. Thompson St., DeLand.
