Webinars: Meeting the mental health needs of students, families

It cannot be understated the impact our national crisis has had on our children and families across the state, and how such ongoing stressful events can lead to an ever-increasing number of mental health needs.

To continue to address this issue, Iowa Department of Education will be holding a three-part series of webinars in the month of November from 3 to 4 p.m.:

  • Mental Health Needs and Resources: Wednesday, Nov. 4
  • Prevention and Intervention: Thursday, Nov. 12
  • Self-Care and Social-Emotional-Learning Competencies: Wednesday, Nov. 18

Join members of the Department team for this series, via Zoom (see instructions below).

As a reminder, the Department has resources available for social-emotional-behavioral health on the Return-to-Learn Google site, specifically the Support with SEBH Supports. There are further supports available on the Department site under Learner Supports, which includes Iowa's Social-Emotional Learning Competencies, as well as specific Mental Health supports, such as resiliency, suicide prevention, trauma-informed and Youth Mental Health First Aid.

All current guidance is included on the COVID-19 Guidance and Information page on the website and all tools, supports and resources to assist in the development of Return-to-Learn plans can be found on our Return-to-Learn Google site. In addition, recordings of the previous Zoom sessions can be found on the Department's YouTube channel or on the COVID-19 Webinar Recordings for PK-12 School Administrators in Iowa webpage (along with PowerPoint slides as applicable).
