40,000 Runners Bring the 2024 Independence Blue Cross Broad Street Run Back in a Big Way

New course record set at the 45th annual Independence Blue Cross BroadStreetRun

PHILADELPHIA- 40,000 runners made their way down BroadStreetfor the 45th annual Independence Blue Cross (IBX) BroadStreetRun, a race that featured a few returns to tradition, and new course records. The 10-mile road race is led by Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) in partnership with headline sponsor Independence Blue Cross, which has sponsored the BroadStreetRun for 28 years. The race was broadcast live on NBC10 and Telemundo62.

The 2024 Independence Blue Cross BroadStreetRun reached its 40,000 participation capacity for the first time since the pandemic. The race also again included an awards category for the top non-binary finishers after its introduction last year. This year's first non-binary finisher set a new course record in their category. The 2024 Independence Blue Cross BroadStreetRun also ended in the historic Navy Yard, a return to its traditional finish area after three years of construction moved the finish line to other locations in South Philadelphia.

Independence Blue Cross CEO Gregory E. Deavens joined Philadelphia Parks & Recreation Commissioner Susan Slawson at BroadStreetand Fisher Avenue to kick off the race at 7:30 a.m.
