Hoeven: DOJ Awards Funding to Spirit Lake Tribe and Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians

WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven, chairman of the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs and a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), through the Office of Violence Against Women, has awarded $607,630 to the Spirit Lake Tribe in Fort Totten and $767,680 to the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians in Belcourt. Today's funding will be used by each tribe to respond to and assist victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence as well as ensure perpetrators are held accountable.

'These grants will support both Spirit Lake Tribe and Turtle Mountain's work to strengthen social and support services for survivors,' said Hoeven.
